The stress of moving alone is enough to drive anyone over the edge. When you add in the fact that you might be charged for not cleaning the property up to landlord or agent’s standard, the whole process can be nerve-wracking.

If you are running out of time or not sure about your property manager’s standard it is better to hire a professional cleaning company. Not all cleaning companies are either equipped or experienced enough to be able to undertake this kind of work. Companies that specialize in office cleaning may be willing to accept a move out home cleaning job, but even with the best of intentions they will not be able to work to the same level of professional expertise as a cleaning company that lists Moe out cleaning as a special skill and service that it offers.

When deciding on a company to undertake the move out cleaning, make sure that they list out in detail the services they will provide. While each company will have its own process for producing results, some of the things they should mention in their offer are:

A complete cleaning of the kitchen including

Remove cobwebs

Clean Stove top and range hood

Clean Oven and Griller

Clean cupboard interior and exterior

Clean Switchboards

Dust and wipe skirting boards

Vacuum and Mop floor

Wipe bench tops

Dust Blinds

In the bathrooms

Remove cobwebs

Clean Shower screen

Clean Shower recess and tiles

Clean Basin and cupboard

Clean Toilet bowl and wipe over outside

Clean Laundry sink and cupboard

Vacuum and Mop floors

In the rest of the house

Remove cobwebs

Dust Blinds

Dust and wipe skirting boards

Clean cupboard interior and exterior

Clean Switchboards

Etc.

There are many cleaning companies out there – just make sure you pick one with the experience and competence to do a good job.

With prices of everything on the rise and income levels failing to keep up with the increase, people start to think of cost cutting measures to reduce the strain on their domestic budgets. One item that is frequently considered is the cost of home cleaning services. While cleaning the house is not a high tech operation, it does require some specialized knowledge and skills. Keeping the house clean is essential. And surely there are more important things, perhaps even revenue generating things; you could be doing it the time you propose to devote to house work.

Think about all these things when evaluating the need for home cleaning services. Cleaning the house often requires special tools – mops, sponges, brushes etc. -and special materials – cleaning chemicals – that you may not have. Buying them for occasional use may not make economic sense. Also, using the cleaning chemicals properly requires some expertise to ensure that these chemicals do not do any damage to your furnishings. Are you sure you want to get into this and that you are competent to use the cleaning chemicals?

With such a hectic and fast modern life style you need a home to relax in. If each time you enter it you are plagued by thoughts of the cleaning that is either pending or is due to be done, how much relaxation will there be for you in your home? And of course, doing the actual cleaning yourself rather than getting the home cleaning services do it for you can be physically exhausting.

Then there is the question of time. You may save money by not using home cleaning services but what is the value of the time you will be spending on house cleaning? Does it really make sense to use your time on house cleaning? Could it not be put to better use like spending time with family and relatives?

And even if you feel that you have the time, what happens to your rest and relaxation? Remember, it is the rest and relaxation that keeps you in peak condition for your work periods and letting the relaxation time suffer can affect the quality of the work you do.

So maybe using home cleaning services is not just a luxury. Perhaps, if you need to cut expenses, there are other areas you can economize on that will not have such far reaching consequences on your life as cutting back on home cleaning services will have.

Start with one room if possible and start with items that are least often used.

Write down a list of everything you are packing, in particular if it’s valuable.

Don’t pack one box full of books or paperwork – you might not be able to carry it at all. Fill it halfway with books, and fill it up with lighter stuff.

Digital Photos – use your camera to document the contents of boxes.

Tape is cheap. Use lots of it. Close box bottoms well. Get masking tape or packing tape and tape screws and other little things that came out of something back against it. You’ll want to find the right screw reassemble something without having to pick it out of 100 others when you get there.

Buy boxes from a local moving company. When boxes are of uniform size they stack better. These boxes also have rooms listed on the sides of the box so you only have to check the box next to the room the box is going to.

Fill empty spaces with additional paper.

Some of the companies offer boxes buy back services. If you buy too many boxes you can return the unused for a full refund. These boxes are also quite sturdy so you can re-use them or stash in your attic until you move again.

Don’t label boxes with contents if the contents are valuable. Instead of writing “Silver Service-Fragile” you should write something that makes it sound less theft inviting while showing the fragile nature of the contents. Example: “Mom’s old dishes” instead of “Fine China”

Throw away or donate junk you don’t want to take to your new place. Don’t pack it again!!!

Pack books and heavy items into smaller boxes.

Set aside an area of the house where you can put all the packed boxes. Use a room that isn’t used every day such as the formal dining or living room. You won’t be tripping over boxes and you can have a better idea of what you have and where things are.

Finding a quality cleaning company is both time consuming and costly. There are so many companies in operation ranging from franchised businesses to local providers of all sizes; it is difficult to identify a quality cleaning service.

Protect Your Home from Un-Insured cleaning company

This is the most basic thing overlooked by most of the consumers. Make sure you ask for the proof of insurance. Don’t look for policy but ask for certificate of currency as policy can be cancelled on the next day of issuing it. Any reputable company will be happy to provide the copy of certificate of currency on request. At Aquaqleen cleaning services we are fully insured for the peace of mind of our clients.

The Certificate of Liability Insurance will list you as the certificate holder. It will also list the name of the insurance broker, the insurance company and the name of the cleaning company that is insured.

Also ask for at least 3 references before you engage them for cleaning. Make sure you call references and check them out.

Things To Do at First Cleaning

Before the first cleaning go through the house with the house cleaner to find out what they plan to use on the various surfaces. Many inexperienced house cleaners use the wrong products or use the right products improperly. This can cause permanent damage or stains to your property.

Ask the Carpet cleaning service for a cleaning checklist which will list all the services performed for each home cleaning. Or you can make your own and go through list with cleaner on first cleaning.

Policies

Also make sure you know their cancellation policy.

How they handle the complaints if in future you need to lodge a complaint.

This is the basic thing you need to do to get best out of Carpet cleaning service you intent to use.

Regular vacuuming and regular carpet cleaning will help to keep the appearance of your carpets and furniture but applying fabric protection is another way to prolong the beauty of your furnishings.

Scotchgard technology was designed to protect your furnishings from stains, dirt and grime. Scotchgard surrounds each fibre, providing an invisible shield against dirt and soil. As a result, dirt does not adhere as easily and vacuums up easier. Plus fibre wear from soil abrasion is reduced.

An example of how carpet or furniture protection products can help is when you have a spill. If you spill red wine and the carpet does not have scotchgard protection you watch the liquid absorb into the fibres of the carpet and in some cases leave a permanent stain. If you spill on the carpet that has been scotchgarded you watch the liquid bead on the surface and not absorb into the fabric. This gives you the necessary time to clean up the spill without leaving a permanent stain. A carpet and furniture protection product on your furnishings does not mean that you can ignore the spills until your next cleaning.

Frequently sitting in the same spot on your furniture or walking in the same pathways of your carpeting will form wear patterns. Another benefit that you gain from using scotch guard is that it provides an extra layer of protection and in many cases will prolong the forming of wear patterns. Even with Scotch guard it is still important to rearrange your furniture to prevent wear and to use throw rugs in high traffic areas of your carpet.

In homes that have pets you will find that scotchgard can be a great benefit in providing protection for your carpets and furniture. It protects furnishings from pet stains and repels liquids. It is quite common in a home with pets to have stains like urine, vomit and scotch guard will provide added repellence to the fabrics. This type of strong protection will prevent permanent staining and in many cases the stains will release with a gentle washing or steam cleaning. The nice thing about this type of protection is that it won’t change the look, feel or breathability of your furnishings.

In many cases the benefits of Scotchgard are exaggerated and people don’t provide the proper care and maintenance for their furnishings. By understanding that Scotchgard does have some limitations you have the knowledge to provide proper care and as a result will enjoy the benefits for many years.

Myth#1
Wait as long as you can to have your carpet cleaned the first time, because once you have it cleaned it never looks the same again.

First of all, if you wait too long to have your carpet cleaned, there has already been permanent damage done to the fibers. The main reason for this belief can be attributed to carpet cleaners who leave the carpet either too wet, full of residue, or both. Too wet leaves suspend soils in the excessive moisture. When it dries, this soil will wick up to the top surface of the carpet fiber.

If your carpet is cleaned properly, there will be maximum removal of residues, quick drying, and a fresh clean carpet under your feet for months to come.

Myth#2
The store where we purchased our carpet said it had to be dry cleaned only.

We hear this one a lot. This could not be further from the truth.

This consensus of opinion among carpet retailers (salespeople) is derived from carpet cleaners who consistently leave the carpet too wet. This causes a great amount of soiling to be left behind, which wicks back to the surface after drying finally occurs. This opinion has no factual or proven claims to back it up, it is just that — their opinion, and it is WRONG!

The largest manufacturer of carpet states that hot water extraction(know as carpet steam cleaning) is their recommended method of carpet cleaning. They also recommend PROFESSIONAL carpet cleaning using this method.

Myth#3
If I have my carpet steam (wet or hot water extraction) cleaned, it can shrink, mold or mildew, split the seams, or otherwise ruin my carpet.

Again, this can only happen if the cleaner leaves the carpet extremely wet. In the case of a professional, removing all excess moisture is one of the most important steps in the hot-water extraction (steam) cleaning process.

Modern hot water extraction equipment is designed to do just that — remove all excess moisture and leave only what the carpet fiber itself will absorb.

A professional carpet cleaning company will properly use this cleaning process which only penetrates to the base of the carpet fiber, and does not penetrate the carpet backing (either primary or secondary), pad, or your floor underneath.

Even some of the dry cleaning companies actually use water, so it is not dry at all.

Myth#4
Dry Cleaning is better than Steam (wet) Cleaning because it is dry.

This myth comes from the overbundance of *bad* steam cleaners. By using the term *BAD*, I am referring to steam (wet) cleaners who leave the carpet way too wet (and there are plenty that do this). Someone came along and figured the opposite of very wet would be better (dry). Best is removing the *excess* moisture and only leaving the *absorbed* moisture the fiber picks up.

To improve upon this further, steam clean with a solution that will remove existing residues and leave your carpet or upholstery extremely clean and fresh. Now that’s the BEST way to clean — period.

Dry cleaning, on the other hand, has a BIG tendancy to leave a lot of residue in the carpet. There is either no extraction, or very little extraction involved with dry cleaning. Guess where the soiling and cleaning residues remain? IN THE CARPET!!!
